The interruption affected the Peninsula end of the network. Millbrae station connects BART with Caltrain and SamTrans, while Colma is also served by SamTrans. The reported shutdown covered trains between the two stations in the San Francisco, Richmond, SFO and Millbrae directions.

SamTrans Routes Covered SFO, Millbrae and Colma

BART directed passengers between SFO and Millbrae to SamTrans route 292. For travel between Millbrae and Colma, riders were told to use ECR buses toward Daly City or Palo Alto depending on direction.

SamTrans lists route 292 as operating between San Francisco, SFO and Hillsdale, while ECR runs between Daly City BART and Palo Alto Transit Center. Its published schedules clarify that BART was directing riders to existing bus connections around the affected rail segment.

BART Was Recovering by Late Evening, but No Restart Time Was Given

PG&E’s outage tracker classified the Millbrae-area outage as unplanned and estimated that power would be restored at around 9:15 p.m.

By the CBS San Francisco update at 10:24 p.m., the story’s headline described BART as recovering from the disruption. However, the page did not specify the exact time normal train service resumed, so the PG&E restoration estimate should not be treated as the confirmed rail-service restart time.
