The Competition Authority rejected an appeal filed by a consortium led by Strabag. That made it possible to sign the contract. The Olbrachtova–Nové Dvory section follows the stretch already under construction between Pankrác D and Olbrachtova.
Prague Metro Line D technology and operation
According to DPP’s Metro D transport system page, the new line will operate with a CBTC system. It is also designed to stay compatible with the rest of the metro network. This applies on certain sections.
The full line is expected to be completed in 2032. It will be operated by 100-metre-long trains made up of five carriages. Each train will have a capacity of 525 passengers. The maximum speed will be 80 km/h.
Project phases of Prague Metro Line D
According to DPP’s Metro D concept page, Prague Metro Line D will have a total length of 10.6 km and 10 stations. The project is divided into three main phases. The first phase covers the Pankrác–Nové Dvory section. It is 4.6 km long and includes five stations.
The second phase will connect Nové Dvory with Písnice. It will cover 3.8 km and three stations. A depot will also be built there. The third phase will extend the line from Pankrác to Náměstí Míru. It will add 2.7 km and two stations. The line is expected to carry around 45 million passengers a year.
