The MTA app upgrade centers on a rebuilt mobile app, as Progressive Railroading reported. It is for MTA New York City Transit subway and bus riders.

What the MTA app upgrade includes?

In a press release, MTA officials described the refreshed app. Also, it shows nearby train and bus arrivals. In addition, it gives estimated arrival times for future stops. For example, it provides real-time vehicle location updates. At the same time, it also includes a live customer support chat.

How the updated app fits with MTA TrainTime?

Passengers can download the new app from the Apple App Store. Meanwhile, they can also get it on Google Play Store. Separately, earlier users of the MTA subway and bus app can update it.

Still, MTA officials said the updated app does not replace TrainTime. In addition, MTA says riders can use that app to buy and use tickets. Also, they can plan trips in that app. For example, they can track trains for MTA Metro-North Railroad routes. Meanwhile, they can track trains for MTA Long Island Rail Road routes.

Additional updates to the app are expected later in 2026.
