CPK airport rail tunnel and station layout
The CPK railway station will sit beneath the future terminal. Together with the tunnel, it is among the main components of the future airport project. In Poland, the project is known as CPK. It combines the new aviation hub with a network of high-speed rail lines.
Meanwhile, part of the platform hall will sit below ground level. It is expected to exceed 1.6 million cubic meters in volume. According to the investor, it would be almost three times larger than Warsaw Central Station. Meanwhile, the tunnel’s volume is planned at about 3.5 million cubic meters. Its total length is around 6 kilometers.
In addition, rail lines 5, 85, and 88 are to pass through the tunnel. On the eastern side, six tracks will enter the structure. They will then spread into 12 tracks in the station area. Two of those tracks will be passing tracks. This arrangement is intended to provide 10 platform edges. Separately, the western side will narrow again to six tracks. The western exit is to connect with Gdańsk, Wrocław, and Łódź. Also, the eastern side will offer direct access to Warsaw.
Contracts in 2027, opening from 2032
Under the current timetable, the two parts of the contract are to be awarded. Meanwhile, the agreements are to be signed in the first quarter of 2027. Service is expected at the end of 2032 for the rail station and tunnel. At the same time, the high-speed rail section is expected to open. It will link Warsaw and Łódź. After that, the remaining branches will open on the future “Y”-shaped main line. Also, as previously covered by Railway Supply, they run toward Wrocław and Poznań. Their opening is expected by the end of 2035.
