Slovenian Railways (Slovenske železnice) announced a strategic partnership with Czech EP Holding. The goal of the strategic partnership is to create a leading logistics company in Southeast Europe, which includes Slovenia, northern Italy, Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and the rest of the Balkans, as railway magazine «Railway Supply» informs citing   Časnik Večer

At today’s meeting, the Supervisory Board of Slovenske železnice agreed to a strategic partnership in the field of freight transport and logistics.

EP Holding (Czech Republic) is one of the leading energy companies with assets worth 16.7 billion euros and sales revenue of 8.6 billion euros, according to a press release from Slovenske železnice. Last year, the holding received 2.1 billion euros in profit, excluding depreciation and interest.

Logistics is becoming more and more important in its portfolio and company wants to develop its southern division together with Slovenian Railways.

The main financial goals of the new company are to double profits and 50% growth in revenue over a five-year period. Improving of competitiveness and customer service remains the key business goal. “We will achieve this by going abroad, expanding networks and renovating rolling stock,” comments Slovenian Railways.
