The new Cityjet Desiro ML (MainLine) suburban trains will be operated by VVT in Tyrol on the route between Innsbruck and Kufstein starting from October 2023

The routes will gradually expand to the line between Landeck and Innsbruck, and from June 2024 to the line between Wörgl and Salzburg, according to Railway Supply, citing ÖBB.

Currently, the train bodies are located at the ÖBB Train Tech factory in Jedlersdorf, Vienna, where the external design of the new Cityjet fleet for Tyrol has been completed.

ÖBB and the Tyrol province presented the new trains for the first time, giving passengers in Tyrol a glimpse of what to expect from autumn.

The new trains stand out as the longest suburban trains in Tyrol, with a length of 100 meters, offering a total of 290 seating places.

Before the trains are put into operation, several more tasks need to be completed at the factory. The first of the 20 cars will be finished this year.

They will be delivered to Tyrol in August and will be used for training purposes before passenger service begins in October.

Siemens Desiro ML suburban trains have been operating on ÖBB’s rail network since 2015 and have proven successful since then.

Initially, they mainly served the eastern region, and since 2021, they have also been operating in the western part of Austria.
