Newag delivered another hybrid train for West Pomerania
West Pomerania is the owner of the largest number of IMPULS trains. In 5 years, from 2013 to 2018, the region’s fleet was replenished with 40 units of the Impuls family (22 EZT Impuls type 31WE and 18 trains of type 36WE), which made the region the most attractive.
Recall that the Office of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship was the first in Poland to order a hybrid rail transport. Two vehicles have been serving the West Pomeranian railways since January this year, and five more 36WEh vehicles have been ordered under the option guaranteed by the July 2020 agreement, informs Railway Supply magazine, citing Nakolei Pl.
The original painting of the Impuls 2 train type 36WEh – 003 resembles foaming sea waves and is associated with a festive atmosphere. However, this is not the first unique color scheme for the train, because the first Impuls 2 was painted amber, while the green color of the current one is ecologically related.
The Hybrid Impuls can accommodate 302 people (150 seats). When designing it, special attention was paid to safety and comfort of movement. The salon is equipped with a fire detection system, a travel information system, a GPS monitoring system, as well as comfortable seats and luggage racks. In addition, the train has built-in bike racks and wheelchair ramps.
The Hybrid Impuls 36WEh has a top speed of 160 km/h in electric mode and 120 km/h in standard mode. The cost of ordering seven trains under the contract is 140 million zlotys (30.57 million euros).
