Dublin Luas light rail system goes to KeolisAmey

Keolis and Amey will operate and maintain the Dublin Luas light rail system. As reported by Railway-News, the contract starts on 1 September 2026.

The two companies will work with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). In addition, they will work with the National Transport Authority (NTA) for seven years. Also, the agreement can be extended by up to a further six years.
Dublin Luas light rail system contract and scope
Keolis and Amey have officially been awarded the contract to operate and maintain Dublin’s Luas light rail system. Meanwhile, the two companies will partner with TII. They will also work with the National Transport Authority for the initial term. Separately, KeolisAmey will take a central role in Luas operation and maintenance from September 2026.
Planned improvements and remote monitoring solutions
Planned improvements include enhanced services. They also include an initial deep clean of Luas stops. In addition, the contract covers proven service delivery processes used across other networks. Also, it covers proven operations and maintenance processes already used across other networks.

Meanwhile, it includes remote monitoring solutions for both light rail and infrastructure, as Amey notes. At the same time, those solutions are intended to detect and prevent failures. Still, both companies also commented on the agreement and the future of the Luas.
