Passengers, however, say the passenger reservation system (PRS) still hasn’t been updated, leaving them unable to board or alight at Tiruvallur.

This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Tiruvallur railway station is one of the major stops in the suburban network, with at least one lakh commuters using it every day. With Tiruvallur described as an important transit point, the Tiruvallur railway station stoppage for Train nos 22625/22626 Double Decker Express had been pending for a long time; Southern Railway has also referenced these train numbers in official notices such as its Southern Railway update on Train Nos. 22625/22626.

Commuters welcomed the announcement, but noted the station is still not listed in PRS as a boarding and alighting point for the fully reserved train—so ticket bookings to or from Tiruvallur remain unavailable.

“As a result, passengers are currently unable to book tickets to or from Tiruvallur,” said K Bhaskar, a former DRUCC member. He said the issue should be fixed at the earliest to avoid inconvenience for travellers.

Bhaskar also raised a separate concern tied to the modernised PRS system (PRS NDLS). According to him, additional charges are collected for superfast trains, but they are not printed on paper tickets, and this has continued since Nov 2025—an issue also described by The Indian Express. He said this did not happen under the earlier PRS MAS system, and added that a grievance emailed one month ago did not receive any response.

Southern Railway officials said it usually takes two days to a week for the system to be updated. They assured passengers that the PRS issue would be resolved at the earliest to ensure smooth travel.
