The episode is set to be transmitted on More4 tomorrow — Thursday, 22nd January at 9 pm — (Govia Thameslink Railway release). On screen, King heads into areas most passengers never see, including hidden spaces underneath the station. One stop is a cab road dating back to the Victorian era. The programme also looks at how millions of passengers travel each year to one of Britain’s most popular seaside resorts, and how the station copes with that level of demand.
Other stations featured in the More4 series
The run does not stay in Brighton. King, Holloway and Burrows also visit the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway in Devon.
Another episode takes them to Sheringham on the Norfolk Coast, where the contrast is the point: one station serves the heritage North Norfolk Railway, while the other is the terminus of the Bittern Line on the national railway network.
A further programme heads to Barry Island in Wales to examine how the railway helped lay the groundwork for seaside day trips and reshaped the country’s social life.
Filming details and a comment from Brighton station
The Brighton episode was filmed over two days in early August 2025. Holloway is also known for presenting Secrets of the London Underground with Tim Dunn.
Paul Wyborn, Brighton’s Area Station Manager, said it was “a real joy” to welcome Burrows to the city during the summer. He called the station a “jewel in the railway’s crown”, pointing to its cast-iron-and-glass train shed and the welcome it gives to arriving passengers, as quoted by RailAdvent. Wyborn added that he hopes viewers enjoy going behind the scenes on television and, if they have not already, consider taking a train to the coast this summer.
