TTC and GO Transit service disruptions: what changes this weekend
24.01.2026
Transit riders should plan ahead for TTC and GO Transit service disruptions this weekend in Toronto and nearby communities, with bitterly cold temperatures and heavy snow in the forecast.

This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
Officials are urging people to stay indoors as much as possible. If you do need to travel, expect changes across the network.

TTC and GO Transit service disruptions: what’s changing
TTC: Line 1 closure St George to St Andrew
Planned station work will pause service on Line 1 between St George and St Andrew. There will be TTC subway closure Line 1 St George St Andrew from 11 p.m. Friday until Saturday, according to a TTC service advisory. The TTC also says no shuttle buses TTC will run during the closure.
The shutdown was originally scheduled to continue until Sunday, but that plan was cancelled because of the winter storm. Regular subway service on Line 1 will resume on Sunday to help riders reach their destinations. Railway Supply also notes the same segment in its report on a TTC weekend subway outage between St George and St Andrew.
Storm conditions may also affect surface routes. The TTC warns that some bus stops—especially in hilly areas—could be temporarily taken out of service during the storm. “Winter weather information” signs are installed at certain stops to explain service changes and point customers to the nearest stop that remains in service.
GO Transit: Oakville to Mimico construction and bus replacement
On the GO network, Metrolinx says GO Transit no train service Oakville Mimico weekend will be in effect Saturday and Sunday while crews replace the Etobicoke Creek bridge. Metrolinx calls the work critical to maintaining safe and reliable service, as outlined in a GO Transit construction notice.
To keep passengers moving, GO bus replacement Oakville Clarkson to Union Station will run instead. Buses will pick up at Oakville and Clarkson stations and travel directly to Union Station Bus Terminal, without stopping at Port Credit and Long Branch.
Metrolinx also says special trains will run hourly between Mimico and Union stations. Regular train service will continue between Niagara Falls and Oakville stations.
