Zillertalbahn, the operator of the narrow-gauge railway line in Austria’s Zillertal Valley, has canceled the tender for the supply of 8 hydrogen trains, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Zillertalbahn does not disclose the reasons for canceling the procurement.

Earlier, several Austrian media outlets reported that the costs for one hydrogen train, compared to 30 years of diesel operation, could be €180 million higher.
