13.05.2026
Surrey Langley SkyTrain extension work is now underway at all eight planned stations in British Columbia. The extension is part of TransLink’s system. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The Surrey Langley SkyTrain project is scheduled to open in late 2029. It will run for about 10 miles on an elevated guideway. The route will connect King George Station in Surrey with Langley City Centre along the Fraser Highway.
Station work on the Surrey Langley SkyTrain extension
Provincial officials described the station construction as a major milestone for the nearly CA$6 billion project. Also, they said it moves the region closer to better and more connected transit for communities south of the Fraser River.
The provincial government is providing CA$4.4 billion toward the extension. In addition, the Canadian government is providing CA$1.3 billion. Officials described it as the largest-ever federal public transit investment in British Columbia.
Station foundation work has been completed at six stations. Meanwhile, work continues at 152 Street Station and has started at Willowbrook Station. Guideway foundation construction is nearly 90% complete. Also, 75% of the guideway columns have been built, province officials said.
“Surrey Langley SkyTrain has been years in the making, and this milestone shows the planning, partnership and sustained investment it takes to deliver a project of this scale,” said TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn.
Planned travel time between Surrey and Langley
Once complete, the Surrey Langley SkyTrain is expected to provide an average 22-minute trip. The trip would run between King George and Langley City stations. Provincial officials said that would be more than 25 minutes faster than the current bus route.
