A single-point security system is now operating at New Ashok Nagar, so passengers can switch between Namo Bharat and the Delhi Metro after just one screening, as reported by Hindustan Times. By removing repeat frisking at the interchange, the change is meant to speed up transfers and cut waiting time.

The New Ashok Nagar interchange connects the Namo Bharat corridor with the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line and serves thousands of daily commuters traveling between Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. NCRTC’s focus here is a familiar pain point at interchange stations: queues and delays created by multiple security checks.

How the single-point security system works at New Ashok Nagar?

With the updated arrangement, Delhi Metro passengers heading toward Meerut via Namo Bharat do not face another frisking after alighting at the New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat station. In the other direction, Namo Bharat passengers continuing toward Noida on the Delhi Metro can move on without an additional security check at the metro station.

This Namo Bharat–Delhi Metro integration relies on an operational Foot Over Bridge (FOB) that links the two stations. A security checkpoint at Gate No. 2 of the New Ashok Nagar Metro Station supports the integrated screening process, helping the interchange flow stay continuous.

Why NCRTC’s Namo Bharat–Delhi Metro integration matters?

For commuters, back-to-back checks often mean peak-hour congestion, longer waits, and crowded interchange areas. These delays add to overall travel time and can discourage riders from choosing public transport. By eliminating repetitive frisking, the single-point security system is intended to make transfers quicker and easier to manage.

The step also aligns with the stated aim for Namo Bharat—speed and efficiency—by helping maintain its goal of completing the Delhi–Meerut journey in under an hour. At the same time, the approach keeps the emphasis on integrated commuter movement, where transfers between networks are designed to feel seamless rather than fragmented.

Wider integration: Ghaziabad FOB and integrated QR ticketing

Smoother connections are also being developed outside New Ashok Nagar. A dedicated Foot Over Bridge has been operationalized at the Ghaziabad Namo Bharat Station, providing a direct link to the Delhi Metro’s Shaheed Sthal New Bus Adda station. The Ghaziabad FOB is approximately 300 metres long and 6.5 metres wide, connecting the lower PD level of the Namo Bharat station to the concourse level of the metro station, with plans for future travellators.

Digital steps have moved in parallel. Earlier, integrated QR ticketing was introduced with the Delhi Metro, allowing commuters to book tickets through the mobile applications of either system, as outlined in a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation press release. This reduces the need to stand in long queues and helps passengers avoid juggling multiple platforms during a single trip.

As part of the wider Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut corridor rollout, New Ashok Nagar is positioned as a key interchange with the metro network, as previously covered by Railway Supply.

With single-point security screening at New Ashok Nagar and supporting steps such as the Ghaziabad FOB and integrated QR ticketing, NCRTC is pushing a Multi-Modal Integration model that brings infrastructure and operations together around commuter movement.

The aim is a faster, simpler, and more reliable experience that can encourage wider adoption of public transport.
