Hitachi Rail adds Clever Devices
Hitachi Rail, meanwhile, has finalized its purchase of Clever Devices, adding to its range of intelligent transportation products. Hitachi Rail officials said the acquisition broadens the company’s position in public mobility and reinforces its North American operations. Clever Devices is projected to generate more than $220 million in revenue in 2026.
Based in the United States, Clever Devices employs more than 600 people and serves a customer base that includes eight of North America’s 10 largest transit agencies. The company also operates in Europe, including Italy, as well as in Brazil and Chile.
Hitachi Rail officials said Clever Devices’ onboard and centralized data technologies fit with Hitachi’s HMAX Mobility suite of AI solutions. As the companies integrate operations, Frank Antonysamy has been named CEO of Clever Devices. He previously worked as chief growth officer at Hitachi Digital, where he oversaw the launch of Hitachi’s industrial AI portfolio.

CPaT expands training technology into rail
CPaT Global is also extending its training technology and content business beyond aviation, starting with rail and mining. The company said it has spent more than three decades supporting highly regulated organizations with standardized, compliant and operations-focused training through learning management systems, qualification tracking, custom courseware, assessments and reporting tools.
Its proprietary authoring platform, CPaT Invent, enables organizations to create, revise and manage training content for specific procedures, equipment and operational requirements.
Dave Rapley, president and CEO of CPaT Global, said:
“Rail and mining organizations face many of the same training challenges found in other safety-critical industries.”
“Our technology and experience are uniquely suited to help organizations address those challenges while improving training effectiveness and operational performance.”
