Rail Baltica energy subsystem design consultation in Latvia, Lithuania

RB Rail has opened a market consultation for Rail Baltica energy subsystem design work in Latvia and Lithuania. The company is inviting suppliers and industry specialists to review draft procurement materials and share recommendations, according to Rail Baltica.
RB Rail market consultation and planned procurement scope
The planned procurement is intended to support both the next phase of technical development and the start of Detailed Design activities. In addition, RB Rail said this would be done through independent technical review and validation of proposed electrification system solutions. The aim is to keep the approach high-quality, compliant and technically sound.

Rail Baltica energy subsystem design and electrification components
Rail Baltica’s energy subsystem is expected to include traction substations and overhead contact line infrastructure. The system is aimed at providing a safe, stable and efficient power supply for railway operations. Also, RB Rail AS is seeking feedback on the publicly available draft procurement documentation through the consultation, and it is encouraging participants to suggest improvements. The company said the submissions will be used to refine requirements and support a competitive and transparent procurement process ahead of the official open competition.

EPS platform details and consultation deadline (Riga time)
The consultation follows the signing of a 1.77 billion EUR electrification design and construction contract in 2025, as Rail Baltica noted.
