News on the procurement of rolling stock

Railway Supply journal reports on the procurement and supply of rolling stock.
– The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has signed a contract with CRRC for the supply of 44 six-car unmanned metro trains (image included). The order, valued at $439 million, also includes an option for 11 additional trains and the possibility of long-term technical maintenance. Deliveries are planned for 2027, and the operation of the rolling stock is expected to commence in 2030.
KEVRZ needs immediate modernization
– Tenders have been announced for the supply of up to 41 electric trains and 6 battery-powered trains for the Mazovian Voivodeship in Poland. In particular, the competition by the regional carrier Koleje Mazowieckie includes a fixed part for the delivery of 15 five-car trains and an option for an additional 10 units. The customer requires the rolling stock to be delivered within 30 months from the date of contract signing. At the same time, the voivodeship itself is seeking suppliers for an additional 16 two-car electric trains and 6 two-car trains powered by the contact network and batteries.
– Saudi Arabian rolling stock component importer Sabatco has entered into an agreement with CRRC to establish a joint venture for the production of wagons and railway wheels in the country. The value of the agreement is $250 million, and further details are not disclosed.
Czech Republic to connect two airports by rail
– Calabria and Sardinia have announced tenders for the supply of 16 narrow-gauge hydrogen trains in total. The combined value of the two tenders amounts to €216.7 million. The procurement will be funded by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Sustainable Mobility.
– “Ukrzaliznytsia” (UZ) has announced a tender for the purchase of 20 compartment cars for ₴882 million ($23.8 million). The supplier is required to deliver the cars by the end of 2024. The technical specifications indicate that the car must be manufactured no earlier than 2023 and have at least 36 sleeping berths.
– The Egyptian National Railways (ENR) has announced a tender for the supply of 14 rail vehicles of different types, with a total value of €70 million. The procurement is divided into three lots, two of which involve the supply of rolling stock, while the third entails its technical servicing for a period of 5 years. The first two lots will be financed by the European Investment Bank, while the third will be funded by the carrier itself.
