Ipswich station passenger information screen adds bus links
29.03.2026
The Ipswich station passenger information screen has been installed near the main entrance. It gives passengers one place to check travel details. This new integrated information board is much larger than the previous screen. According to Greater Anglia, it uses a 4.8-metre-wide high-resolution LED display. That display can be read from across the concourse.

The large-format information board is intended to make journey planning easier at the station. It brings several types of information together on one screen. For example, passengers can see real-time train departures. In addition, they can check onward bus connection information. Meanwhile, the display gives clear updates when train services are disrupted.

Also, the installation includes the new UK railway clock. It is described as a modern interpretation of the traditional railway timepiece. Ipswich is the first Greater Anglia station where it has been installed.
Greater Anglia, Suffolk County Council and Blackbox Company
The screen was funded by Suffolk County Council. It was installed with its support. Greater Anglia and Blackbox Company of Camberley, Surrey, delivered it through a partnership. Also, it is similar to a screen installed at Norwich station in June 2025.
In 2017, Blackbox Company (UK) introduced the first colour display on Greater Anglia’s network. Since then, it has worked to make passenger information clearer and more integrated. At the same time, the screen reflects continued development of the Azzido Cloud platform. It also reflects advances in LED technology.
Railway line naming contest and Easter travel reminder
Chris Chambers is Suffolk County Council’s Cabinet member for Transport Strategy. He said travellers no longer need to manage multiple apps and timetables. He said this helps make public transport more integrated and coherent.
A competition to suggest a suitable name is being run. Greater Anglia and the Ipswich to Cambridge Community Rail Partnership are running it. It is for the railway line between Ipswich and Cambridge. Separately, customers are being reminded that engineering works may cause some disruption to Easter travel.
“We are pleased to introduce this new screen at Ipswich, which will make it easier for customers to access clear, real-time travel information in one place. It’s another step forward in improving the overall experience at our stations, particularly during busy periods or when services are disrupted.”
Andrew Goodrum, Greater Anglia’s Infrastructure & Major Projects Director
