Intramotev Signs Autonomous Rail Car Commercial Agreement

An autonomous rail car commercial agreement now connects Intramotev and R. J. Corman Railroad Co. Under this deal, R. J. Corman will deploy TugVolt cars on the Memphis Line. These units will handle industrial switching operations. Also, specific financial terms were not disclosed. R. J. Corman joins a partner roster including Watco and Carmeuse Americas. The operator manages 19 short lines across 11 states. It serves every major North American railroad.

Contactless Upgrades for the Breeze Fare Payment System
Separately, Innovations in Transportation Inc. (INIT) helped the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority launch the better Breeze system. The “tap and ride” feature is now active across the network. Passengers can pay with mobile wallets or contactless cards. Also, the new Breeze card is available. According to INIT, virtual cards for smartphones will arrive soon.
The agency-wide technology update required a massive hardware rollout. This project included more than 1,800 payment validators on buses and in stations. In addition, MARTA installed over 500 modern fare gates. Also, 275 next-generation ticket vending machines were added. These machines meet accessibility standards under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
