Vintage Trains Easter ticket discounts begin after award wins

Vintage Trains Easter ticket discounts are now available. The operator won two awards this month. The offer covers eligible Standard and Pullman class tickets for spring tours, as RailAdvent reports.

The operator received the Heritage Railway Association’s Manisty Award for Excellence on Saturday 7 March. The HRA annual awards ceremony took place in Llandudno, North Wales. The award is named after preservation pioneer Captain Peter Manisty. It recognised Vintage Trains for operating the replica Locomotion No. 1. It did so in a recreation of the first locomotive-hauled train journey, as RailBusinessDaily reported. Meanwhile, that event was held last year as part of Railway 200. It marked the industry’s celebration of two centuries of the modern railway.

Vintage Trains also won a Silver award at the West Midlands Tourism Awards. It came in the ‘Experience of the Year’ category for its Shakespeare Express service. Also, the train runs between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon, the playwright’s home town. As Vintage Trains notes, it travels along the Shakespeare Line and the Chiltern Main Line.

To mark the two awards, the company has cut ticket prices by one-fifth. The cut applies to eligible Standard and Pullman class tickets on eligible spring journeys. The promotion opened for new bookings on Wednesday 25 March. It will remain available until Friday 10 April 2026. In addition, Vintage Trains has warned about Easter weekend availability. Only a limited number of tickets are available for tours over the Easter weekend. It expects tickets to sell quickly.

Shakespeare Express service and ticket offer details

The operator runs train journeys on the main line from the West Midlands. Its services are hauled by classic locomotives. For example, Standard class gives passengers the experience of riding behind a working locomotive. They do so while travelling on some of the country’s most memorable main line routes.

Separately, Pullman class offers a classic on-board experience. At the same time, it includes table service and heritage railway décor. Still, the offer cannot be used together with any other offer or with group rates. It also does not apply retrospectively to bookings that have already been made.
