INDIA: Five infrastructure groups have bid for a Bengaluru suburban rail package centred on Mathikere’s double-decker station, where suburban tracks are planned above a road flyover within Corridor 2.

The latest Bi-RIDE tender covers 7.795 km of elevated viaduct and ramps and includes the double-decker rail-cum-road flyover, Mathikere station, road and Y-loop ramps, foot overbridges and multimodal integration works. Five bidders have entered the competition: RVNL, Cemindia Projects, AFCONS Infrastructure, H.G. Infra Engineering and the RNS Infrastructure–Gayatri Projects joint venture.

Road Below, Suburban Rail Above at Mathikere

The double-decker element is more than a two-level station building. Bi-RIDE’s scope identifies the structure as a rail-cum-road flyover. A K-RIDE plan reported by The Times of India places 5.5-metre-wide roadways on either side at Level 1, with the suburban rail viaduct at Level 2 along the roughly 1.2-km Mathikere–Yeshwanthpur stretch.

That arrangement gives the Mathikere package a clear physical integration function: road traffic and the suburban railway are designed to use separate levels of the same elevated corridor.

Multimodal Access Is Part of the Civil Package

The civil scope goes beyond the two decks. It also includes Mathikere station entry and exit structures, foot overbridges, a road-flyover ramp, a Y-loop ramp and multimodal integration works. The public tender summary does not identify a specific Metro or Indian Railways interchange at Mathikere, so the integration claim should remain limited to the road-rail structure and the explicitly listed multimodal works.

Bi-RIDE’s tender drawing index also identifies dedicated single-track superstructure arrangements at Mathikere station, including 17.75-metre and 14-metre straight spans for the up and down tracks. Those details show that the station has dedicated structural arrangements within the elevated section rather than being described only as a generic station element.

Five Bids Remain Before the Award Stage

As of August 12, the government e-procurement status lists technical bid opening and technical evaluation under Process 1, followed by financial bid opening, financial evaluation and AOC under Process 2. No award is shown on the current status page, so the five bids should still be treated as competition for the package rather than contractor selection.
