To implement this grant, Ukrzaliznytsia is beginning collaboration with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

The funds will be allocated towards the restoration of critical railway infrastructure in Ukraine and increasing freight transportation volumes, as reported by the railway journal Railway Supply, citing Ukrzaliznytsia.

What is the expected outcome?

  • Restoration of critical railway infrastructure facilities
  • Expansion of Ukrzaliznytsia’s capacity to transport containerized goods, including humanitarian aid and agricultural exports.

“Ukrzaliznytsia is expanding its portfolio of collaborations with international institutions. For the first time, we have financial support from the World Bank, and with this grant funding, we expect equipment and rolling stock deliveries as early as this year. I am confident that the implementation of this project will allow us to expand our partnership to further strategically important projects for Ukraine’s railway infrastructure,” noted Anton Mishin, a member of Ukrzaliznytsia’s board.
