TÜRASAŞ will start production of a national electric train prototype in 2021
Turkey’s Transport and Infrastructure Minister – Adil Karaismailoğlu, who visited the regional office of TÜRASAŞ Sakarya, said that the production of prototypes of 32 electric trains to be used on the Gaziray line will begin in 2021, aiming to increase the localization rate to 80 percent in mass production, reports railway magazine «Railway Supply» citing Rayhaber.

“We will manufacture equipment for rail systems around the world together with TÜRASAŞ and our national companies with national capital.”
TÜRASAŞ will begin production of a prototype national commuter train in 2021. The minister also add that works on the 225 km/h high-speed train project will continue in 2021. Within the framework of internal and national projects, the design and production of the first set of the prototype of the national electric train project was completed in the regional office of TÜRASAŞ. In this project of creating a national electric train, the degree of localization has reached 60 percent. The aim is to increase the localization rate to 80 percent.
