BNSF Logistics announced the appointment on July 27. Humbert will be responsible for advancing commercial strategy, strengthening customer relationships and expanding in strategic markets as the company develops integrated rail and multimodal logistics services.

Chief Executive Officer David Ivan said Humbert’s record of leading commercial teams, developing transportation solutions and serving complex supply chains will support the company’s growth plans. The announcement did not disclose financial terms or changes to other executive positions.

Experience across transportation and intermodal operations

Humbert brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain management and intermodal operations. His previous employers include Stoughton Trailers, International Motors and C.H. Robinson.

Across those roles, he managed commercial strategy, transportation procurement, logistics operations, product development and multimodal solutions. He holds an MBA from Purdue University and a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University.

His industry work extends beyond corporate roles. The Intermodal Association of North America previously listed Humbert as a board member representing C.H. Robinson, while he has also been involved with the University of Denver Transportation & Supply Chain Institute.

Rail and multimodal services form the commercial brief

BNSF Logistics describes itself as a rail-centric third-party logistics provider that works with Class I, II and III railroads, regional carriers and short lines. Its rail services include railcar management, fleet optimization, route studies, transloading and heavy-haul project support.

The wider business also provides project cargo, warehousing, engineering and supply chain solutions across North America. Humbert’s remit therefore covers the commercial strategy for a service portfolio that combines rail with truck and other transport modes.
