Stadler may receive an order not only for electric trains in Ukraine
In Ukraine Stadler may receive an order not only for electric trains, but also for trams and metro trains.
A representative of Stadler in Poland in a commentary to local media said that the company in Ukraine can produce not only rolling stock for the railway, but also trams and metro trains, reports Railway Supplymagazine referening to urm.media.
It was emphasized that the signed memorandum is not binding, since it does not have an appropriate rank, and largely concerns financial issues. After all, the Ukrainian side wants to get a loan from the manufacturer for the purchase of trains, at the same time obliging him to produce the ordered trains in Ukraine.
Cooperation will concern not only rolling stock, but also metro and tram trains for Kyiv. UZ plans to order 90 vehicles, 60 for commuter services, 20 for regional and 10 for intercity transport.
As a reminder, on August 26, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Ukrzaliznytsia, Stadler and the Swiss Agency for Export Risk Insurance signed a memorandum on the submission of investments to Ukraine.
Funds in the amount of up to 500 million euros will go to the development of the railway transport sector.
The agreement provides not only for the purchase of trains, but also for the localization of Stadler production through the construction of a new plant in Ukraine.
