PKP SKM is looking for a supplier of new electric trains

A railway carrier from Pomerania has announced a tender for the supply of one new electric train, with the possibility of supplying nine more. The procedure was preceded by preliminary market consultations, which aroused great interest among manufacturers from Poland, Europe and even Asia. The deadline for applications is July 5, 2021.

The new trains will be used to service the metropolitan area’s passenger rail services on the Gdańsk-Sredmiescie – Rumia route (railway line no. 250 operated by PKP Szybka Kolej Miejska in Tri-City) and further on the route between Rumej and Lebork (line 202 operated by PKP PLK S.A.). These electric trains will also be able to serve the railway lines located in Kashubia (No. 248, 253, 214, 229 and 201 – after electrification), informs Railway Supply magazine referrring to Raport Kolejowy.

With a favorable conclusion of negotiations and the purchase of all vehicles, the first electric train will be delivered no later than 20 months from the date of signing the contract, and the next – at least once every two months. The last train should be delivered by the end of October 2023.
