The Krakow carrier plans to purchase new low-floor trams equipped with air conditioning, a passenger information system, monitoring and facilities for people with reduced mobility. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to Nakolei.

Krakow trams

In total, we are talking about the delivery of 60 modern cars by 2026, of which 30 are planned to be purchased in the first place. It is worth noting that some of the wagons will be over 40 meters long.

MPK SA will announce a tender and conduct preliminary market consultations. Their purpose is to obtain information to the extent necessary for the precise preparation of this procedure, including, in particular, a description of the subject of the procurement of new trams. Consultations will be held in the form of meetings, and the expected date of their completion is 4 months from the date of the announcement of the primary market consultations. This period may be extended if the objectives of the consultations are not achieved within the specified time frame.

When planning the purchase of new trams, MPK SA in Krakow will, of course, look for external funds that would allow it to cover part of the amount needed for their order. The purchase of 60 new trams will make it possible to decommission all high-floor trams. This is especially important for people with limited mobility.
