An unusual cargo has arrived at the Klaipeda container terminal. A locomotive was brought here from Italy by sea.

Klaipeda container terminal received an unusual cargo - a locomotive weighing 73 tons

A 73-tonne railway locomotive was delivered to the container terminal by a ship from Italy, intended for quality control and diagnostics of railway tracks, reports Railway Supply magazine.

The locomotive was ordered by LTG Infra. It was purchased under the Lithuanian railway infrastructure modernization program.

A heavy machine 22 m long had to be unloaded with two cranes, and two cranes were needed to move from the quay to the railroad. After the locomotive was put on the rails, it went to its destination on its own. As previously reported, Ukraine and Lithuania are stepping up multimodal transportation.
