It is planned to resume the railway connection between Kharkiv and Izyum
In the near future the Ministry of Infrastructure plans to resume railway communication between Kharkiv and Izyum, which was liberated from the occupiers, reports Railway Supply magazine, citing the Ministry.
“We are working to increase the number of trips, as well as the routes. In particular, in the near future we plan to restore the railway connection between Kharkiv and Izyum. We are already completing the development of a plan for the logistics unification of the region in order to create safe supply chains in the liberated territories as soon as possible,” – said Alexander Kubrakov.
The Minister stressed that the clearing of roads and the construction of temporary crossings at the destroyed bridges are also priority works. All involved services are ready to turn on at 100%, waiting for permission from the pyrotechnicians of the State Emergency Service conducting demining.
Ukrzaliznytsia is gradually returning railway communication to the de-occupied Kharkiv region. On September 15, a rail bus began to run between Kharkov and Balakliya. It will run twice a day on a daily basis. To renew the communication, the railway workers quickly restored the bridge and dozens of damages on the tracks and the contact network.
Also, Ukrzaliznytsia continues to strengthen security control at railway facilities. A comprehensive system for examining passengers’ luggage is already operating at the Kharkiv railway station, which includes 2 stationary metal detectors, 2 X-ray television introscopes, and hand-held metal detectors.
