JSC Ukrzaliznytsia received UAH 1.7 billion in income from the commercial use of arrested railway wagons and containers owned by Russian and Belarusian companies, the Economic Security Bureau (BEB) reported in a February 20 press release. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.

Earlier, on December 1 last year, BEB called a lower level of UZ income from such activities – UAH 1.3 billion.

The department clarified that these wagons were arrested and transferred in accordance with the decision of the investigating judge to UZ for safekeeping with the right to commercial use. The company can direct the proceeds to any needs that arise in the course of economic activity.

As reported, BEB, within the framework of criminal proceedings under the procedural leadership of the Office of the Prosecutor General, installed 17.8 thousand wagons that directly or indirectly belonged to the subjects of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, 1,625 of those wagons were with inventory items.
