Chinese electric trains for Serbia

Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia Tomislav Momirovic, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China Chen Bo and representatives of the national operator of passenger trains Srbija Voz, the Chinese rolling stock manufacturer CRRC and the international division of the state railway company China Railway International, signed a memorandum of understanding on January 7, 2020 on cooperation in the field of railway vehicles, informs Railway Supply magazine with reference to the Ministry website.

The document provides the possibility of purchasing high-speed electric trains for operation at speeds up to 200 km/h on the modernized Belgrade-Budapest railway corridor, as well as the possibility of cooperation on the creation specialists training centers in Serbia, as well as maintenance and production of railway rolling stock.
The ministry reports that the establishment of train production in the country is extremely important for the development of railway communication in the republic. Also, a center for the production and maintenance of rolling stock can be created on the territory of the country.
