Two new Smartron locomotives have already been delivered to the Poduyani locomotive depot and are preparing to leave on the track.
Thus, the company already has 13 new Smartron locomotives out of 15 to be supplied by DZZD Siemens Tron. This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to BDZ.
Two more locomotives are to be delivered by the end of the year. The new vechicles will be named after the Bulgarian rulers – Tsar Ivan Asen II and Tsar Kaloyan.

Another interesting detail is that each Smartron has a Glagolitic letter at the head, which is a unique way of popularizing and preserving Bulgarian values and the country’s rich history.
