Azerbaijan starts construction of railway to Nakhichevan

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev took part in the ceremony of laying the foundation of a new railway line, which in the future will provide transportation between Azerbaijan and the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic through the territory of Armenia. The event took place at Horadiz station, reports Railway Supply magazie citing information from raillynews.com

The head of Azerbaijan noted that the railway line “is of great strategic importance” for the transportation of goods and passengers.

The first stage of the project is a 100-kilometer line that will run from Horadiz to the Agbent settlement on the border with Armenia.
