ArcelorMittal put into operation a new locomobile

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih start using a new shunting locomobile in the railway workshop №3.  The locomobile is based on Mercedes-Benz Unimog and manufactured by the German company Zagro.  The company allocated about UAH 15 million for the purchase of a multifunctional wheeled-rail tractor, informs railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.

The locomobile is capable of carrying out many production operations aimed at cleaning and improving roads and railways. In particular, it can maneuver up to 10 wagons and a total weight of up to 1000 tons. Moreover, its own weight is only 13 tons. The machine is equipped with road cleaning devices, a grass mower and a brush cutter. In winter, the Unimog can be equipped with a snow plow or auger.

At the moment, the locomotive is performing a large amount of railroad work, replacing an entire diesel locomotive.

The training of the company’s personnel to work with new special equipment was carried out at the end of last year with the help of German specialists in an online format.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih has more than 600 km of its own railways.
