2026 capital improvement project

At the northern end of the receiving yard, engineering crews are replacing hand-operated switches with 12 new electric switches. The yardmaster will be able to control the new equipment directly. The electric switches will supplement power-operated switches already in use at Radnor Yard.

CSX officials said the project could allow the technology to be extended to other parts of the yard.

37 powered switches by early 2027

Work will continue through early 2027, after which Radnor Yard will have 37 powered switches. CSX says the electric switches reduce manual tasks, improve operational control and help provide a safer working environment.

The company has also produced a short video about the switch replacement project.
