Českomoravská Metro Station Modernization Completed in Prague
31.03.2026
The modernization of Českomoravská metro station is now complete. This is according to the Prague transport operator DPP.

Also, the Line B stop in Libeň has officially reopened. Still, its location next to the O2 Arena makes it a critical hub. The facility handles heavy passenger flows during major concerts and sports events.
Technical Upgrades at Prague Metro Line B
Work on the project spanned eighteen months. It involved an overhaul of technology and aesthetics at all levels. This included the deep platforms and the street concourse. Service resumed on March 20. Meanwhile, engineers verified all new equipment, as noted by Railway PRO.
Infrastructure and Structural Reinforcement
Contractors stripped the facility down to its basic structure. They did this to reinforce the frame. Hidden behind the finishes are 1,600 LED light fixtures. For example, crews laid roughly 120 kilometers of cabling. The ventilation systems and escalators were also fully replaced.

Art and Accessibility in the Modernization of Českomoravská Metro Station
The platform aesthetic is a defining feature of the upgrade. Artist Maxim Velčovský and studio edit! architects developed custom glass panels. Lasvit Nový Bor produced 143 of these fused glass elements. No two pieces are identical. Separately, craftsmen manually applied glass powder between layers. This allowed air bubbles of different sizes to form.
Exterior Design and Public Restrooms
Qarta Architektura designed the exterior cladding. They used copilit glass and composite panels. In addition, the lobby features a reflective glass façade. Additionally, new accessible restrooms are now open. The entrance is located on Drahobejlova Street.
Still, future expansion is already integrated into the current layout. In addition, the station features preparations for elevators at the concourse end. At the same time, these will eventually align with a private real estate project. This was noted in coverage on the Railway Supply information portal.
