BuildersFirst Source rail-served facility opens in Colorado
06.07.2026
The BuildersFirst Source rail-served facility has opened at Rocky Mountain Rail Park east of Denver as the company expands across Colorado’s Front Range region, Union Pacific Railroad officials said in a press release.

The company is one of the nation’s largest providers of building products, components and construction services.

Rocky Mountain Rail Park spans 620 acres and is intended for long-term rail-served industrial development. The site is also one of Union Pacific’s 45 Focus Sites.
Rail service inside the park is provided by Patriot Rail, which connects the location directly with Union Pacific’s mainline.

Rocky Mountain Rail Park is structured as a rail-served industrial site rather than a conventional warehouse location. Union Pacific lists the park’s rail highlights as including service by Patriot Rail’s Front Range Railroad, a connection to Union Pacific, a new industrial lead track, suitability for both unit train operations and manifest service, and opportunities for rail-to-truck transloading.
The park’s own materials also describe planned unit-train and manifest rail platforms connected to the Union Pacific mainline. For BuildersFirst Source, that context helps explain why the first rail cars are tied directly to lumber, truss and wall panel operations.

The first rail cars have already reached the facility to support BuildersFirst Source’s lumber, truss and wall panel operations.
Jacqueline Bendon, Union Pacific’s senior vice president of marketing and sales, said:
“We are thrilled to welcome BFS to the Rocky Mountain Rail Park,”
“This milestone highlights the role rail plays in connecting our customers to markets and opportunities. We wish both BFS and Rocky Mountain Rail Park much success and look forward to serving them with safe and efficient rail transportation.”
