22 certified sites in CPKC Room to Grow program
21.03.2026
CPKC Room to Grow program expanded on March 12. CPKC said 14 additional rail-served industrial development locations had secured Site Ready certification. Those locations are across North America.

What the CPKC Room to Grow program adds?
The new certified sites are part of Room to Grow. It is the company’s broader commercial strategy. Also, the strategy is aimed at attracting manufacturers to its network. It also targets logistics operators and other supply chain partners. Meanwhile, the Site Ready locations span six U.S. states. They also cover three Canadian provinces and two Mexican states.

Together, the 14 newly certified sites unlock more than 6,600 acres. That land is immediately developable. In addition, CPKC said businesses can break ground without waiting through pre-permitting. They do not need to wait through rail connection approval either. That process typically adds months to industrial project timelines.
Site Ready locations across the tri-national network
With this latest batch, the railway has more than doubled its Room to Grow footprint. At the same time, CPKC previously had eight Site Ready locations. It now counts 22 certified sites across its tri-national network. That total was also covered by Railway Supply.
Each certified location was developed in partnership with Burns & McDonnell. The firm is a global engineering and construction company. Still, CPKC said every site comes pre-approved for rail service connection. Also, each site is near major markets, ports, and distribution hubs.
CPKC network, cargo mix and executive comment
John Brooks, CPKC’s Executive Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer, presented the expansion as a customer support tool. He stated:
“Each certified location is designed to streamline development, accelerate timelines and create new value for both business and communities through unparalleled rail connectivity.”
