AUSTRALIA: V/Line trains are set to return to Benalla and Euroa on August 31, restoring station calls after months of construction-related disruption while Inland Rail work continues at both Victorian station precincts.

V/Line Trains Set to Return to Benalla and Euroa

V/Line identifies the affected services as Albury Line trains. Its current Albury Line service-change notice covers May 6 to August 30 and says trains continue to operate without stopping at Euroa and Benalla while replacement coaches serve passengers at the two stations. The operator’s master timetable list shows the Albury/Wodonga–Melbourne route via Wangaratta, Benalla and Seymour, while the temporary Albury Line timetable runs only through August 30.

As of August 8, V/Line’s current timetable list does not show a separate temporary timetable for travel from August 31. Passengers planning journeys around the reopening should therefore check current journey information before departure.

What changes for passengers from August 31?

At Benalla, trains will use the new western platform on the Railway Place side of the station. The existing V/Line station building will temporarily close, and interim passenger facilities on the opposite side of the tracks will provide ticketing, toilets, parking and a coach pick-up and drop-off zone. The new platform is connected by an underpass, ramps and stairs.

Inland Rail’s Benalla access notice confirms that replacement coaches are scheduled to continue until the new platform, temporary V/Line ticketing and car park open on Railway Place on August 31.

At Euroa, trains will again stop at the upgraded platform in front of the old station building. A new car park off Railway Street will open with 50 spaces, two accessible spaces and four short-term pick-up and drop-off bays. The coach stop will remain on McGuinness Street until the end of the year.

The Euroa access notice says the new Railway Street car park and platform are due to open on August 31 and confirms that the relocated bus stop on McGuinness Street serves both V/Line and Public Transport Victoria services during the current works.

Station construction continues after trains return

The reopening is an operational milestone rather than completion of the station projects. At Benalla, the full station precinct remains scheduled for completion in early 2027. At Euroa, work is continuing on the station precinct and Anderson Street underpass, with the full precinct expected to open in the new year.

The wider upgrades include new tracks and platforms, improved pedestrian and vehicle access, additional parking and new community spaces. From August 31, passengers are expected to regain direct rail boarding at both stations even as construction continues elsewhere in the precincts.
