Union Pacific Crowns 138 Chemical Shippers for Hitting Zero Hazmat Releases
29.04.2026
Hazmat safety efforts by 138 shippers have been recognized by Union Pacific Railroad. The recognition came through its 2025 Pinnacle Award for safely transporting chemicals by rail. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

According to Union Pacific, the Class I railroad presents the award each year. It goes to customers that use release-prevention measures and apply corrective action plans. In addition, they record zero non-accidental releases of regulated hazardous materials in their shipments.
How hazmat safety efforts are recognized
UP described its safety mission in a press release. The railroad seeks to move every tank car safely each day. That mission has four parts: prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. Also, its hazardous materials safety team supports customers. That support includes joint rail safety training programs and rail-car inspections.
As Progressive Railroading reported, Kenny Rocker said the award recipients set the standard for safely shipping hazardous materials. Rocker is Union Pacific’s executive vice president of marketing and sales.
“Safety is a shared responsibility, and these customers show a strong commitment to protecting communities while keeping the rail network moving safely,” he said.
