Türkiye-Saudi transport and railway agreements have been signed, opening a new phase of bilateral cooperation in logistics and infrastructure, Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said on June 9.

Transport and logistics cooperation

The memoranda of understanding⁠ cover several areas of transport cooperation between the two countries, and Uraloğlu said the process would support broader knowledge exchange and technical collaboration.

“In this context, we are launching a new phase that will strengthen the exchange of expertise and technical cooperation across a wide range of areas, from logistics centers to modern applications,” Uraloğlu said.

Railway cooperation⁠ is also part of the framework. According to Uraloğlu, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia are working to establish a stronger and more sustainable basis for joint activity in railway technology, infrastructure, training, and human resources.

“May these steps, which will contribute to the connectivity, trade and development of our region, bring lasting benefits to both our countries,” he added.

Ministers sign the agreements

Türkiye’s Transport and Infrastructure Ministry said the agreements were signed by Uraloğlu and Saudi Arabia’s Transport Minister Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser.

Uraloğlu also referred to previous transport activity between the two countries, saying annual bilateral transport volume had reached 20,000 before 2012.

“Prior to 2012, our annual bilateral transport volume had reached 20,000.

“Although we currently fall short of that figure due to regional developments, our goal is to take our cooperation beyond even that level.”
