The EMD F9 diesel locomotive is a mainline freight locomotive that was produced from February 1953 to May 1960 by Electro-Motive Diesel and General Motors Diesel plants.

The locomotive was equipped with a 16-cylinder V-shaped two-stroke diesel engine EMD 567C with a capacity of 1750 hp. The largest operators of this series of diesel locomotives were Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, Northern Pacific Railway. And also the Mexican Ferrocarriles Nacionales de México. Diesel locomotives EMD F9 drove the famous passenger train “California Zephyr”
