Santiago Metro Line 7 has reached a tunnelling milestone, with a tunnel breakthrough between the main interstation sections of PC-12 and Isidora Goyenecha Station.

Santiago Metro Line 7 tunnelling work

The event was attended by Chilean President José Antonio Kast Rist and followed another completed tunnel breakthrough on the same metro line.

SYSTRA Subterra has handled design work for sections 2, 3 and 4 of Line 7⁠. The company is also set to continue developing the line’s Selective Door Opening system as phase 2 of its contract with Metro de Santiago.

SYSTRA’s role in the Santiago Metro⁠ goes back to the network’s early development in the 1960s. The company has contributed to the automation of Line 1, the development and extension of Lines 3 and 6, and design studies and construction supervision for Line 7.
