The European Business Association insists on the need to extend the pilot project for another two years in order to fully test the admission of private locomotives to work on the railways and collect the necessary data on the interaction of private operators and infrastructure owners, reports Railway Supply magazine.

It is also noted that the failure of the pilot project and the further introduction of private traction on the railway will actually mean the failure of Ukraine’s agreements with the European Union under the Association Agreement.

The first participant of the experimental project on the admission of private locomotives to work on separate routes on railways of the general use was the Ukrainian Locomotive Company.
