Patna Metro trial run: Bhootnath–Malahi Pakdi test on Blue Line
27.02.2026
Patna Metro trial run activity has reached another key checkpoint after trains successfully operated between Bhootnath and Malahi Pakdi on a significant Blue Line stretch, as reported by Rail Analysis.

Meanwhile, the latest test reflects steady progress on the city’s metro network and keeps the project on track toward passenger service.
Patna Metro trial run on the Blue Line elevated corridor
The trial took place on the Blue Line elevated corridor, a strategically important section intended to serve busy residential and commercial areas. By linking Bhootnath and Malahi Pakdi, the Patna Metro Blue Line stretch is positioned to support large numbers of daily commuters once public operations begin, with broader Patna Metro developments previously covered by Railway Supply.
This was a full technical exercise rather than a symbolic run. In addition, trains were operated multiple times along the corridor to gauge overall performance and confirm operational readiness across core systems.

Systems checked during the Bhootnath–Malahi Pakdi trial run
Engineers and senior officials monitored the movement of the train and carried out inspections against national metro rail safety standards. Key elements assessed included speed and acceleration performance, braking systems efficiency, signaling and communication systems, overhead electrification equipment, and track alignment and safety standards. Also, emergency response preparedness was part of the checks during the trial.
These assessments are intended to confirm that the corridor meets operational benchmarks before it is opened to passengers.
Patna Metro Blue Line timeline toward commercial operations
With the successful test completed, the Bhootnath–Malahi Pakdi corridor is now a step closer to commercial operations. Authorities have announced that a crucial final trial run is scheduled for 26 February 2026 (Thursday) in preparation for the formal inauguration of the Bhootnath to Malahi Pakdi section, as noted by Patna Metro Rail Corporation.
Once operational, the extended corridor is expected to ease congestion in the eastern parts of Patna, where narrow roads, increasing vehicle density, and peak-hour bottlenecks have long affected travel. At the same time, for commuters, the metro is positioned as a faster and more reliable alternative with predictable schedules and modern facilities.
The extension is anticipated to bring several benefits, including reduced travel time across key urban stretches, lower traffic congestion on major roads, an environment-friendly transportation option, improved connectivity between residential and commercial hubs, and enhanced urban infrastructure development.
