Passenger trains collided in Poland on Thursday evening near Białośliwie, leaving at least 3 passengers injured. Around 200 people were on board the two trains when the accident occurred, and rail traffic on the Piła–Bydgoszcz line has been suspended.

The accident took place near the town of Białośliwie in Piła County, Greater Poland Voivodeship. The collision occurred at about 6:04 p.m. local time.
The first information from the scene indicated that the number of injured passengers was still being verified after the incident. Early reports referred to two injured people, but later information indicated that at least 3 passengers needed medical assistance.
Białośliwie train accident involved Polregio and PKP Intercity services
The collision involved a Polregio regional service operating on the Piła–Bydgoszcz route and a PKP Intercity train running between Białogard and Warszawa Wschodnia.
Initial information from emergency responders and Polish press reports indicated that the regional train struck the rear section of the Intercity train.
The impact derailed the final coach of the Intercity train, while part of the Polregio train also came off the track.
Images from the site showed passengers being evacuated near the railway line, with some railcars derailed or leaning away from the tracks.
Emergency crews responded after the train derailment
More than 16 fire crews were deployed to the accident location. Police, medical personnel, and representatives of the rail operators were also present.
A spokesperson for the Greater Poland Region Fire Department told local media that responders had started a triage procedure to assess how many people required medical care and how serious their injuries were.
The first reports suggested that the injuries were not life-threatening. Contusions and sprains were among the injuries mentioned, and the injured passengers received treatment at the scene.
Piła–Bydgoszcz line remains suspended
Rail operations on the Piła–Bydgoszcz line were suspended after the accident.
PKP PLK, Poland’s railway infrastructure manager, said trains would resume only after the condition of the line and railway facilities had been checked.
Technical teams were sent to the area to inspect the tracks and related railway infrastructure for damage.
Operators also began organizing replacement transport for passengers affected by the disruption.
What is known about service?
The official fire-service report said 11 people received medical assistance at the scene, while 3 men were transported to hospitals in Piła and Chodzież. A temporary point was also organized at the Volunteer Fire Brigade station in Białośliwie for people waiting for onward transport. Firefighters completed their actions before midnight, but other activities at the collision site were expected to continue for the next hours, and traffic on the Piła–Bydgoszcz route remained suspended.
Cause of the collision remains under investigation
The circumstances of the collision will be established by a railway investigation commission.
Initial reports stated that the accident was not a head-on collision. Instead, the impact reportedly happened during a maneuver or track change, when the Polregio regional train struck the rear of the Intercity train.
