Modernization of the Paris suburban railway line
12.04.2024
Authorities of the Ile-de-France Mobilites region have decided to invest 4 billion euros in the modernization of the Paris RER C line by 2035, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
This ambitious project includes updating rolling stock, improving infrastructure, and adapting services.
In particular, 172 Z2N trains will be replaced with new Z2N NG trains, and work will be carried out to raise platform heights and modernize the power supply system.
The RER C line, with a daily ridership of 540,000 passengers, has experienced a decline in performance, leading to decreased train arrival punctuality.
Additionally, a contract has been signed for the delivery of 35 RER NG trains for the RER E line, which will increase its capacity by 20%.
This is a step towards a modern and efficient public transportation system in Paris.
