Leeds–Sheffield route gets Northern Powerhouse Rail consultancy services

Northern Powerhouse Rail consultancy services are part of Amey’s new contract with Network Rail. Also, the contract covers the Leeds–Sheffield corridor. In addition, it sits within the Northern Powerhouse Rail programme. It covers multi-disciplinary railway consultancy support for the route.

Northern Powerhouse Rail consultancy services for Leeds–Sheffield
The contract was awarded through Network Rail’s Development and Design Partnership Framework (DDPF). Meanwhile, the work is intended to support links between Sheffield and Leeds. At the same time, it is intended to create additional capacity through extra train services. Also, it is intended to support faster journey times on key routes across northern England.
Engineering solutions for the route
As reported by Railway-News, Amey will work with Network Rail on the Leeds–Sheffield route. Separately, Amey will design and develop engineering solutions for that route. Meanwhile, it will draw on its experience in designing, operating and maintaining rail networks. Still, the company will provide provisional design solutions to improve performance and minimise disruption. In addition, they aim to deliver resilient outcomes for both passengers and freight.
