Kochi Metro accelerates Phase-2 construction toward Infopark
25.10.2025
Kochi Metro remains on a roll with the current works on Phase-2 from JLN Stadium to InfoPark with the erection of the first girders and extension of the electric feeder bus services.
This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Kochi Metro Expands Phase-2 Construction Across the Expressway
Engineers erected the first 170-ton U-girder at the 284th and 285th pillars at Infopark, which marked the beginning of erecting structures that are elevated from the ground. This was accomplished after the engineers mobilized the huge girder with multi-axle trailers from the Kalamassery casting yard.

Construction teams have completed 65 columns near CSEZ, Alinchuvadu, and Vazhakkala stations, while 18 pillars now support pier caps. Out of 1,135 planned piles, 875 reinforce the viaduct and 260 strengthen upcoming stations. Because the project remains on schedule, visible progress now defines multiple sections of the alignment.
Kalamassery’s casting yard has already produced 100 U-giders, 72 eye-giders, and 100 pier caps. And since every part of the project is ready for implementation, the activities go on uninterruptedly between the engineers and the contractors. Indeed, according to officials, intensity of civil works will go higher in the next few months due to new span construction.
Kochi Metro Strengthens Urban Connectivity and Sustainability
In order to enhance last mile connectivity services, a new electric feeder route was started by the metro authority between Kadavantra and Panampilly Nagar. This circular route functions between 8:00 AM and 7:50 PM and takes journeys along Manorama Junction, Panampilly Nagar Road, and Justice Krishnayar Road.
Passengers get to enjoy easy connectivity to metro rail systems without necessarily using personal vehicles, and hence congestion and pollution continue to reduce. The electric vehicles represent Kochi’s initiative to adopt environmentally friendly transport technology.
But while the trains and buses continue to develop side by side, experts stress the importance of a good feeder system to boost commuter traffic and ensure sustainability. And with developing infrstructural projects, Kochi Metro paves the way for urban transport development in south India.
