Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited the Telangana site alongside Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy. He confirmed that the ₹500 crore investment (≈ $60 million) will fund modern machinery, robotic painting, and automated storage systems.

The plant will produce coaches, locomotives, and metro components using advanced technology. This aligns with India’s broader infrastructure strategy to expand rolling stock capacity and improve operational efficiency.
Benefits of Kazipet Railway Manufacturing for Regional Development
The facility will create thousands of jobs locally and support the growth of nearby ancillary industries. It also adds momentum to the ₹6,100 crore (≈ $735 million) infrastructure package announced in July 2023 alongside 176 km of highways and the Kazipet rail unit.
By launching production in 2026, the project supports India’s goal of self-reliance in railway technology. Vaishnaw emphasized it as a transformative step for national rail modernization.
